Salem nurses voted overwhelmingly to ratify a new contract with Inspira yesterday! This will take effect on June 1.
We have reached a tentative agreement with Inspira after two months of bargaining for a new contract. The next step is for members to vote on the agreement for it to take effect.
Our local union has been working to bargain a new contract with Inspira since they took over ownership of our hospital.
Inspira Health announced the addition of Salem Medical Center to its system Dec. 16, acquiring its hospital building, ambulatory surgery center and physician offices, effective immediately.
This week, we finalized an extension of our contract with Salem Medical Center until October 31st. All of the provisions of the local contract are now in full force until that time, which is important in terms of protecting us

The Nominations/Election Committee announces that they are now accepting nominations to represent Local 5142 at this year’s AFT National Convention.
We are gearing up for negotiations with the Hospital. We will also be bargaining over the proposed sale of the Hospital so that we can all make sure our voices are heard during this transition.
