Healthcare workers at Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen and the Harborage, a long-term care facility at the Palisades campus voted to authorize concerted job action if Hackensack Meridian continues to stall during negotiations.

Today we pressed the hospital to address several major issues: vacation, education, staffing, and wages. EHMC has no real response to these issues. They continue to tell us they will “get back to us.”
On May 20th, the hospital could not enter into a discussion on staffing and education. But they did give us a wage proposal.

CONTINUING EDUCATION -skills fairs to be conducted 3 times a year; content to be posted to allow for staff input. -skills fairs are not for new technology or procedures. -attendance will be paid as a CE day; staff guaranteed time
The hospital has rejected your proposal. Sign onto this letter to tell the hospital’s negotiating team that you want to be recognized for being a preceptor. We have proposed a reasonable preceptor differential.
The hospital (EH) negotiating team continues to interfere with your rights relating to collective bargaining by not releasing negotiating team members to engage in good faith bargaining.
Our HPAE Local lost a valuable member to COVID recently. Cecilia started at Englewood Hospital in the Home Health Department. When Home Health closed, she transferred to 2 Kaplan.
The union received the hospital’s proposals today. Although the hospital’s proposals have a deleterious impact on members, their introductory statement revealed their intent of getting an agreement without making many changes to the contract.
You will soon be receiving, if you have not already, a form from the hospital asking you to list your preference for the upcoming summer holiday. The contract section 4.05 states your requirement regarding working holidays
