Local 5147 Union Update, January 30, 2026

Happy Holidays, Happy New Year, and many blessings to you and your loved ones. It is unbelievable how many activities, how many memories can be packed into a few days and then back to work as if they never happened. Your leadership team has been hard at work as well, navigating issues with our insurance coverage, meeting with management to discuss disciplines with fellow coworkers, observing and supporting the New York State Nurses Association and their fight for patient safety and wages, surviving a once in a decade winter storm (hopefully), and more!

How much more? Come join us on February 11 for our first Membership Meeting of the year! We have much to discuss: our sister facilities and it is time we switch gears and get ready for negotiating our contract for the next 3 years. Make your voices heard and your needs known. Our local is only as strong as our members, and our members deserve a livable wage in the face of soaring inflation, affordable healthcare coverage, peace of mind that your and our patients’ safety is maintained, the list goes on.

Our meeting in February is just the start of our negotiation preparation, and in the weeks that follow we will also be meeting with specific units directly to hear what you are looking for in our next contract.
